Record Attendance Alumni Committee
April 3rd Meeting!

 A record 16 Alumni attended our last Alumni Meeting!

    We welcomed guests from the Class of 1975, representatives Gail Bobowski and Deenie Lefko and also Councillor Ross Eadie (1979) and first time attendees Rick (1977) and Linda Romsa (1979). The agenda included welcoming remarks by President Brian Burdy (1965); updates on Finances; Alumni Archives, The Centennial Wall & Website; Newsletter; Upcoming Reunions, Class of 1999 and 1975; the Honouring the Past group and School Activities.

     The committee welcomes anyone who would like to join us either to just listen in or to become a volunteer member of the committee to contribute to the discussions and help out with ongoing activities.

Two of our alumni have received awards this year.

Junel Malapad

Student 1982-88

Staff Custodian 1993-2011

Currently Head Custodian at Sisler High

Manitoba 150 has recognized Junel for his positive contributions to the community and awarded him with the Honour 150 Award from Canada Life. He has received a medal and a $500 donation to contribute to a charity of his choice. 

Junel has a passion for running and uses it to raise money for various charities.

Rylee Nepinak

Student 2010-2015

Awarded MHSAA Athlete of the Week September 17, 2014

Rylee was presented with the 2021 Manitoba Indigenous Youth Achievement Award in the Community/Volunteer Senior category.

Rylee is the co-founder of Anishiative, an Indigenous youth-led community group that cleans up litter in the North End.

Winnipeg School Division 150 Celebration

October 29, 2021 was the day to celebrate the WSD 150th Anniversary.

WSD 150 Celebration Books are available at St. John's.

A huge thank you to Steve Patrick, class of 1985, who donated 2 boxes of memorabilia to the archives. It included a basketball warm up jacket and practice singlets as well as football and basketball newspaper articles along with team rosters. Also part of the package was drama production programs and other miscellaneous items.

With this valuable information, we were able to add many individuals to our 1980's data collection.

Willa Keith (Guidance 1972-97) and Margaret Boumford (Home Economics) were golfing at the Ye Olde Rusty Classic Retired Teachers Golf Tournament in Mordon Sept. 8th, Year Unknown
